‘Elemental‘, the Winter Exhibition at Circle Contemporary

Circle Contemporary is an art gallery at the Hawksfield on the A39. Its latest exhibition brings together a group of artists who have been inspired by their environment and experiences to create beautiful minimalist objects and images. Afterwards, you can enjoy the other shops on offer at Hawksfield or perhaps grab lunch at effortlessly stylish café, Strong Adolfo’s.
Wadebridge Christmas Weekend
11 & 12 December
Wadebridge is home to 150 shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, 85% of which are local independent businesses. The town’s annual Christmas Weekend is a great opportunity to explore the shops alongside a craft market, live music and a Santa’s Grotto. Friday culminates in a spectacular fireworks display from 8.15pm.
Scrub & Spuds, Pentire Head, Polzeath
12 & 13 December, 10am to 4pm, free
Spend the day out in the fresh air and play a part in conservation work. Help the rangers in their efforts to reduce gorse and blackthorn to promote greater biodiversity. To reward your efforts the team will cook a jacket potato lunch on the bonfire. This event is great for families and a way to meet new people. Beautiful St Endellion Church (on the main road to Port Isaac) provides an atmospheric setting for this performance of Handel’s Messiah, led by Three Spires Singers and four captivating soloists. Booking required.
Pub Quiz at The Cornish Arms
13 and 27 December
Get a team together and head to the cosy Cornish Arms near Padstow for their pub quiz. There are great prizes to be won and entry is only £2, with proceeds going towards Padstow RNLI.
Lanhydrock House activities
Every day in December except Christmas Day, 11am-4pm
Lanhydrock opens its doors to visitors this winter, with a range of Victorian themes activities and traditions taking place in the house. You can also enjoy a walk around the stunning grounds and children can meet Father Christmas to receive a magical gift.
A spot of beachcombing
The North Cornwall National Trust blog features regular updates on the coast here at Polzeath. The kids will love to see what they can find on the shore after heavy seas. Check the tide times and head to the beach!
