Construction site news.Friday, May 19, 2017
Apologies for the lack of updates here. There have been some enquiries about the apparent lack of activity on site. We can reassure you that all the contractors required to complete the project are now working on site; the majority working internally so you can’t see them on the webcam.
Contracts have recently been transferred to Clark Frost Construction Ltd. Our site manager continues working closely with Clark Frost to provide continuity.
Below are some pictures taken in the last few days. Taking them inside is rather difficult due to wires and pipes intervening but we will send more just as soon as circumstances allow.
Webcams are back!Monday, April 10, 2017
Our live webcams are finally back online, following the repositioning of the site office. Click here for a view of the site (with sound!) and here for the always-spectacular view. Latest images are below the line. The sun has been shining this week…
(N.B. The webcams turn off out of working hours – when the generator is switched off.)
The improving weather and construction progress means an uptick in interest in buying fractions. Want to know more about how to purchase a fraction in an Atlantic House apartment? Marching onWednesday, March 22, 2017
March has been a good month – we have plenty of progress to report on site – and some photos below. Apologies for the lack of webcam coverage, we hope this will be resolved soon. The rendering at the rear is very nearly complete and the scaffolding will come down there soon. Meanwhile our team has started the same at the front – and the stonemasons have arrived! Read more
Webcams offlineWednesday, March 15, 2017
A quick update to tell you that our webcams are currently offline. Apologies, but this is actually good news – we are moving our site office and sales cabin on to the headland. This means we are hoping that the road in front of the Atlantic House will soon be open again, as we finish off the build. It will be a few days before we can restore full power to the cameras – we will let you know when they are back online. We will also be back with a photographic update soon.
Onwards and upwards.Tuesday, February 7, 2017
There have naturally been many enquiries as to how we stand now that Pemberton Homes are no longer the main contractors.
I am glad to report that everything is running smoothly. We have taken over direct control of all the relevant contracts; there has been no halt to work on site and we have secured the services of all those that are valuable and essential to the efficient continuation of of the project. Better than this – now that we are the direct employers – their first loyalty is to us and the completion of Atlantic House.
Far from delaying things it seems that Pemberton’s troubles may have been a blessing for us. We could even finish the building faster than the recent plans suggest is the case.
The Builders.Monday, February 6, 2017
A news update for you.
Pemberton Homes Ltd (PHL), the builders contracted by us – Atlantic House Ltd (AHL) – are preparing to call in a receiver due to a problem with another site in Devon.
This has nothing to do directly with Atlantic House Ltd, and we are receiving full cooperation from Pemberton in transferring all relevant records and workforce.
This means that we (AHL) have retained all existing personnel on site – and the work continues largely uninterrupted. We will post some photos soon with progress.
Any queries you might have, please drop us a line.

October at the AtlanticMonday, October 3, 2016
In case you missed it, there was a wonderful documentary on BBC2 on Saturday: Betjeman and Me: Rick Stein’s Story. Sir John Betjemen, the late poet laureate, stayed in Trebetherick throughout his life. As a child he took the train each summer from Waterloo to Padstow – the end of the line as it was then. He was buried at St. Enodoc Church. Read more
Build progress – new pictures and the futureFriday, September 16, 2016
Apart from the odd storm, the weather has held recently. Our team has been busy hauling the final steels into place. In the photos below (taken on Wednesday) you can get a sense of how the top floor is coming together. Also a little reminder of what the finished item will look like.
The sunshine is back!Wednesday, September 14, 2016
BUT – the sunshine returned today. And with it, a timely reminder that Polzeath in September is glorious. Empty beaches, beautiful surf, and local residents able to relax a little after the chaotic summer season.
And the return of the good weather means our fellow local traders are happy…
Keeping an eye on usTuesday, September 13, 2016
A reminder that as the build goes on, you can watch progress live through our site webcam – and you can look out to sea from the view webcam – a little damp today! And now John Bray has set up a new live camera from the opposite side of the bay, at Tristram. Read on for some images. Read more
September at Atlantic HouseSaturday, September 10, 2016
Progress continues at a fast pace as the glorious September weather continues. The giant crane – for now a feature of the Polzeath skyline – has been lifting steels into place to complete the structure. As you can see in the photos below, the top floor is taking shape. At the rear of the complex, the ‘surf shack’ is looking great – this is where guests and residents will be able to store surfboards and wetsuits after the beach.
Why don’t you make the most of the wonderful weather… come and visit us in the sales office at the front of the hotel and have a look round yourself!
Build progress!Wednesday, August 17, 2016
Despite various infuriating delays, work is now progressing fast at the site on Atlantic Terrace. We can now show prospective buyers the spectacular views from the apartments. The roof is finally due to go on next week. After this, weather will be less of a factor and we’re hoping for the entire project to be complete in December / January.
Gardens to visit in CornwallTuesday, June 14, 2016
The moderate temperatures of Cornwall mean that plants thrive in this region in comparison to other areas of the UK, and in some areas the salty sea air highly influences the variety of plants that can become established – bringing specimens found nowhere else in the country. Thanks to Cornwall rarely experiencing frosts, its gardens can offer something to see at any time of the year.

Build update: Onwards and upwards now that flooring is in placeMonday, April 25, 2016
The progress at Atlantic House has come along nicely since the site was initially cleared and foundations were laid for the structure’s skeleton to be built – regardless of the weather-related set backs and the construction team battling against a number of storms that made their presence known along the North Cornish coast over the winter period. A crane is now onsite to winch heavy concrete blocks into the steel structure, that will form the floors and support further building upwards, to eventually lead on to the construction of a timber frame on the top floor. Activities to do year-roundMonday, April 11, 2016
Atlantic House has frontline access to Polzeath Beach, a popular destination on the North Cornish Coast for surfers, walkers, families, golfers and nature lovers alike. Split into 2 parts, the old and the new, it boasts plenty of activities whatever the weather.
The less-busy months either side of high-season are the perfect way to experience the North Cornish location, and although sacrificing a few more degrees of warmth, everything seems to be a little calmer without the crowds. Polzeath is a nature reserve too, so there is plenty of wildlife to be seen and enjoyed year-round, including dolphins and seals.
Must-visit RestaurantsTuesday, April 5, 2016
Cornwall has a lot to offer, in terms of coastline activities and breathtaking views, but it also has no shortages of places to eat out with something for everyone, whether looking for fine dining and cocktails, or a relaxing evening sitting fireside with a pint of Cornish bitter. The Cornish coastline stretches for around 476 kilometres, with beaches aplenty. Whether you’re after miles of open sand for long walks, or smaller sheltered bays for lazy days, you can guarantee Cornwall will have something for you.
It’s no surprise, therefore, that so many head to Cornwall for their holidays. Here we’re spilling some inside knowledge to help you find a quieter, less explored spot. Read more
Rainy day back-up plansSunday, January 31, 2016
We have some what of a misguided reputation in the UK when it comes to our weather. Yes, we see our fair share of rain, but we also have plenty of bright, sunny days throughout the year. That being said, even in Cornwall rain does make an appearance on occasion. The great news is that even on wetter days, the county has a plethora of attractions and activities to keep you entertained… Read more
